Meet the Photographer
I make photographs for families who know these years are worth holding onto.
I'm Farah Mancel — a photographer based in New York City, and the person behind the lens at Maison Mancel.
I came to photography through motherhood — which is the only way, I think, to truly understand what it means to document a family. As a mother of two young children, I live inside the same feeling my clients bring to every session.
I'm not there to arrange your family into something picture-perfect. I'm there to notice what's already perfect about it.
ABOUT
Three things I believe about this work
HOW I WORK
01
Presence over Performance.
A family session should feel like an afternoon, not a production. I arrive prepared so you don't have to think. Children are allowed to be children.
02
Honesty over Perfection.
The photographs worth keeping are the honest ones. I'm not chasing perfect light or perfect poses — I'm waiting for the real moments that happen in between.
03
Something that Lasts.
I think about these photographs as visual records of love that your children will one day find. That standard shapes every decision I make — in the session and in the edit.

and beyond.
WHERE I WORK
I photograph families throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens — in the parks, neighborhoods, and homes that feel most like yours. Studio sessions are also available in Greenpoint and Industry City, Brooklyn.
Available for destination sessions in the Hamptons, Connecticut, New Jersey, and internationally.
